VaultPDF · private PDF tools

Extract text from a PDF, locally

You want the plain text out of a PDF — to quote it, search it, or feed it somewhere — but the document is confidential and you’d rather not hand it to a random web service. VaultPDF extracts the text right in your browser using the browser’s own PDF engine and hands you a .txt file. The PDF never leaves your machine.

How to extract PDF text without uploading

  1. Open the VaultPDF app.
  2. Drop in your PDF (or several).
  3. Optionally select just the pages you care about.
  4. Click Text (.txt) — the extracted text downloads to your device, page by page.

Why do it locally

Note: this extracts the embedded text layer of a PDF. Scanned image-only PDFs need OCR, which a digital-text extractor can’t recover.

Also private & in-browser: merge PDFs · split PDFs.
